Blancmange (Pudding)

Ingredients

3/4 cup flour

1/2 cup sugar

1 Quart milk, preferably whole

pinch salt

2.5 tsp. vanilla


For chocolate: 3-4 ounces dark chocolate chips or pieces


Sauce pan

Large measuring cup or bowl

Sieve

Whisk

Directions

In a saucepan, mix half the milk with the sugar.

Mix the remaining half of the milk with the salt and flour in a bowl or measuring cup.

Heat the saucepan on low or medium low, until sugar is dissolved. If you are making chocolate, add that now and stir in until melted.

Pour the flour/milk mixture through a sieve into the pan on the stove. Use your whisk to help get the flour through.

Whisk the two mixtures together in the pan and continue to cook until thick.

Turn off heat and stir in vanilla.

Cool, stirring occasionally, then refrigerate.
