1/2 cup butter
At least 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups chicken broth
2 cups milk or cream
1 cup peas, cooked
4 cups cooked, chopped or shredded chicken
In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add in mushrooms and cook until mushrooms are soft.
Turn the heat down to low or medium low. Stir in flour and cook 3 minutes.
Slowly pour in chicken broth and milk/cream and simmer until sauce is starting to thicken. Stir frequently and season as desired.
Stir in peas and chicken and cook until the chicken is warmed through and the sauce is desired consistency.
If the sauce thickens too much while you are preparing noodles, add milk.
Serving suggestion:
Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain, melt butter in your pan and return the noodles. Stir to coat.
Serve chicken a la king over the noodles.
