Prepared Fruit Pie Filling for 1 pie
1 or 2 pie crusts
Crumble:
1/8 cup cold, salted butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup flour
Prepare your pie filling and your crust.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
For pies with fruits that give off a lot of moisture, like apples or peaches, bake the crust empty for 10 minutes before filling.
Put your filling into your crust.
Top as desired.
Full top:
Place the second crust on top, then crimp the edges together by placing your index finger and middle finger on the crust with a space in between, then push in gently with the index finger of your other hand. Cut a couple slits in the center.
Lattice top:
Optional: Brush the crust with a bit of egg white and water before baking.
Crumble:
Use a pastry blender or fork to mix the ingredients until coarse crumbs form. Sprinkle over the top.
Bake for 25 minutes. Cover the edges of the crust with foil and bake an additional 20-30 minutes or until golden.
